Sadly, I think you’re wrong on just about every point.
HP’s claim that Android might be go closed source is very believable. Sure Google’s fine with it being open but there are a lot of people in the industry who don’t like that. Why is that FUD anyway? The platform is open as it is. If a future release is closed then the community can fork it. To a certain extent, once an open source project, always an open source project.
Closing Android wouldn’t change a thing. I think its wishful thinking to believe that developers are attracted to Android because it’s open. If you honestly believe that you obviously aren’t a business man. Developers like it for two reasons: 1) Its backed by a large reputable company (that’s why its on phones to start with) and 2) because its available to a large thirsty market (why we Angry Birds for Android). Do you really believe they’ll quit pushing games to millions of Android users just because they close the platform? Yeah right!!
